Executive Director – Business

Andrew Agaba

Mr. Andrew Agaba  is the Executive Director, Business at Finance Trust Bank, and is responsible
for driving the formulation, development, implementation, and execution of the Bank’s overall
business growth strategy. He previously served as Chief Business Officer at Finance Trust Bank,
a position he held since joining the bank in January 2024.

Andrew holds an Executive Master of Business Administration from Università degli Studi
Guglielmo Marconi in Rome, Italy, and a Postgraduate Advanced Diploma in Management from
Cambridge International. He is also an alumnus of the CEO Apprenticeship Program at
Strathmore University and the CEO Summit Uganda. In addition, he is a Certified Manager, a
qualification he attained from the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) in the United Kingdom.

Andrew is a seasoned business executive with over 16 years of banking experience across both
local and international banks. He has developed extensive expertise in transformational and
thought leadership, product development and innovation, business process re-engineering, and
business strategy formulation and execution, which remains a cornerstone of his leadership
approach.

Prior to joining Finance Trust Bank, Andrew served as Chief Business Officer at PostBank
Uganda, where he played a significant role in the Bank’s transformation and transition from a Tier
II Credit Institution to a Tier I Commercial Bank. Before that, he was Head of Mortgage and
Personal Banking at Housing Finance Bank, where he re-engineered mortgage and personal
loan processes and contributed to accelerating the Bank’s performance to its current
commendable level.

At Orient Bank, where he served as Head of Retail and SME Banking, Andrew is credited with
transforming the Bank’s performance culture. He spearheaded performance and talent
management initiatives and championed the fast-tracking of high-potential employees in
preparation for future leadership roles.

He is also recognized for initiating cost-saving measures that enhanced the Bank’s investment
fund and overall performance, helping position it for acquisition by I&M Bank. Andrew further
served in various capacities at Standard Chartered Bank, including Head of Mortgages and
Associate Principal, Business Development, among others. Earlier in his career at dfcu Bank, he
joined as a Salesman and, within three years, rose through the ranks to become Product
Development and Marketing Officer. In this role, he was instrumental in developing the renowned
dfcu Investment Clubs product range.

Andrew brings over ten (10) years of Executive Committee (ExCo) experience and is deeply
passionate about people development, strategy formulation, and execution.
